I-CAN! EIC reports generated as of April 16 have great news for low-income Montanans. One hundred and seventy-one low-income Montanans have used I-CAN! to file for the Earned Income Credit, leading every state except California by at least 128 users. These 171 taxfilers have reaped a total refund amount of $330,612, representing $250,491 of Earned Income Credit money. This also means that 171 Montanans have avoided giving their hard-earned EIC to tax preparation fees or loans with exorbitant interest rates. Nationally, this easy-to-use Internet taxfiling system has helped working low-income people receive $3,144,583 in federal credits, including $2,185, 163 in Earned Income Credit money.
