LSC Updates Maximum Income Eligibility Levels

Tuesday, February 07

LSC has updated the maximum income levels for an individual or a family to be eligible for legal services. Effective January 31, 2006, in the contiguous 48 states, a single person earning less than $12,250 is eligible for legal services, and a family of four with a household income below $25,000 is eligible for legal services. These figures represent 125% of the federal poverty guidelines issued by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. LSC’s basic rules for determining financial eligibility, which take various additional factors into account in addition to income, remain in place. A complete chart is available at 71 FR 5012-01.
